Lady Gaga inspired is spreading like wildfire

Every generation has a female fashion icon who is daring than the rest of her pack. Twenty years ago, we had Madonna. Now, it's Lady Gaga's reign. Even her fashion has been copied by many.

Recently, I've bought a couple of 'Gaga' inspired tops.

Here is a glimpse of some of the apparel that I've bought a couple months ago and all these were bought in discounted prices.

Left : Black Dress - New Look /Blue Dress - Dorthy Perkins / Black Toga Top - Topshop

Here are my plans / resolutions to wear my :
  • I will pair the black structured dress with a cardigan.
  • I have intentions to wear The 'Gaga' dress as a top or dress depending on my mood.
  • Jeans is one of my staples and will pair a dark denim for my black toga. Probably, wear a cardigan to hide my fat arms. Argh!

PS : Gaga-inspired tops can be found in many places such as Cotton On and Zara. I saw my salsa classmate wore the version from Zara. Later, I saw a girl who wore the combo on Cotton On shelves.

A nice top from Dorthy Perkins

Had bought a black top from Dorthy Perkins during a 70% sale. However, some of the threads were gone and had to send for 'maintenance'. Received a call this week and they mentioned that the top was ready for collection. However, had discovered that some of the threads were gone and it had made another trip to 'maintenance'. Will post the picture of this top once I have received it. Cant wait to wear it out!

Before I bought this black top, I wanna buy a blue pair of shorts. But SL was against it coz there would be an increase of cost and it would create a financial burden. Hence, I didnt buy and bought the black top instead.

Will keep you guys posted!

OL attire?

When it comes to office attire, I do have a big headache coz I dont think my clothes fit the OL (Office Lady) image. Here are some of the flared pants that I normally wear for office. Why flare? Coz it can hide my thunder thighs? I bought these pants from various places and these were reasonably priced. I simply loved these pants. I'm on a search for reasonable priced items and will reveal where I found them. Definitely not in high-end boutiques and the prices are pocket-friendly.

This pair of pants was bought in a shop located at Lucky Plaza and didnt realised that I would fall deeply in love with them coz it wasnt love at first sight till I tried it on. I often pair this with a turtle neck top. However, I couldnt find the same pair anymore. BTW, I couldnt find this turtle top from Dorthy Perkins as well! It's a double whammy! (Top : Dorthy Perkins/ Pants : Lucky Plaza)

These 2 pairs were from Cotton On in both black and grey. Same style but different colors. Perhaps, I'm lazy and will choose a suitable style (pinstriped) and buy in different colors. BTW, these pairs come in different sizes. These are high-waisted pants but I will use a slightly longer top to camouflage the unsightly rolls of my fats at the waist area. Usually, paired this with a pair of boots.
Usually, I will pair these pants with height enhancements such as heels or boots. These are normally pointed versions so these give an illusion in height. I'm no expert in providing fashion tips but these are some of the stuff that work for me. Hope you will like it!

Life's simplest pleasures

Life's simplest pleasures can be anything.

SL and I had a really late dinner at Wisma's foodcourt on Friday evening after a 'long' search for another top to replace the white top coz he thought that it was too auntie looking. (For the white top, had taken off all the embellishments shortly after I reached home that very night after SL's comments. He often joked about my auntie fashion sense.) Of course, the search was unsuccessful though saw a tonga dress at Dorthy Perkins. Looked pretty but I have large arms and prefer to cover them rather than exposing them. Dinner was relatively inexpensive but was a nice one though coz we had a good chat.

My outfit was a bit blanc and noir in between. (White top sans the embellishments : Lucky Plaza/Black jeans : Queensway Shopping Centre/ Bag : Gucci/ Pair with black shoes).

Saturday's evening was spent at Ice Cold coz SL invited me for a date. Beer and chicken wings are the best combination in a pub. Met a couple of galfriends who happened to be at the same place. So glad to meet them. However, I didnt wanna stay there for too long and wanna dinner/ supper coz I've not taken my lunch and dinner. The ensemble was simply noir and the adidas bag was bought in one of shops in Toa Payoh. Relatively cheap and love it coz it's furry. I also wanna to match the 'sporty' theme that we had for that day.
Here was my outfit (Black Top: Hynopsis/Black jeans : Queensway Shopping Centre/ Bag : Adidas - Respect Me/ Pair with black shoes/ Rings : H&M; Perlini's Silver). Accessories for both days were kept to the minimal (less is more mantra) by wearing a different ring for both days. Make-up was done with my latest fake eyelashes obssession.

Ended up at the nearby McDonald's. Was pleasantly surprised that the Happy Meal toy given was Hello Kitty. McDonalds has collaborated with Hello Kitty for their 35th Anniversary and there will be different toys given over these 4 weeks when purchased a Happy Meal. All toys have a stated year and there are 36 toys to choose from. Hence, each one is unique with the year stated in the packaging. This could mean that I will be broke and grow fat if I purchase all the toys given in 4 weeks. These toys are too cute to resist and here is the picture for you to judge.

Had a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Cheers!

Meeting up and spending more moolah

SL was out to watch Liverpool with his colleagues and I had made my arrangement to meet up with one of my gf, T for a short while coz she needed to go back home to attend some stuff.

Managed to check out a pair of shoes that I was eyeing in Rubi. However, the price was SGD 50. Didnt buy but would consider. Didnt manage to walk the newest shopping centre in Orchard (Ion) much coz it's too crowded on a Sunday. Argh! Will visit in another day.

Went to Lucky Plaza to visit my fav shops instead and ended buying a nice white top. I like the details on the sleeves that gives a princess feel. The top comes in 3 colors such as white, grey and beige. I thought white was nice though it's tough to maintain. Saw a couple more tops (another translucent black floral top and a leopard printed one) but decided not to buy them.

Here is the picture of my princess top from Speed Fashion.

Before she left, we went over to Taka to meet somebody and checked out some swimwear. Decided not to buy again. After she left, I decided to walk from Wisma Atria to Plaza Singapura.
When I reached PS, went straight to Dorthy Perkins. Saw a brocade dress that was marked down drastically and was obviously tempted by the price reduction. If I would buy this dress, it will be a liability to me coz it would require dry cleaning.
My heart was saying yes and brain was saying no. In the end, had decided to go to Daiso before buying that dress. I've been trying to find this dress for my size and waiting patiently for the reduction. I thought it would be expensive for me to keep coz of the dry cleaning bills.
SL couldnt believe that I would spend SGD 24 in Daiso and this was the first time that I really went overboard spending in this SGD 2 shop.

Here is my loot consisted of mesh box for my clothings, mascara guards, false eyelashes (2 pairs in a box and to add to my collection), etc. For the mascara guards and false eyelashes were the remaining stocks left at the point of my purchase.

1 of the days of hiatus

Was meeting my friend, SRT, to pass her stuff. Of course, Baby S was with us. Met her for lunch at Thai Express as I wanna go to Nicholas sale at Marina Square. While we were on our way to shopping Baby S's pillow, T called. Sigh! What a kill joy! Meaning that our meeting had to cut short.

We went to Nicholas but was disappointed as the prices were way above my budget. Though there was a pair of shoes that caught my eyes, the prices were out of my league and was sorely disappointed.

Before she left, we went to Kiddy Palace and JL to get a bigger pillow and pillow case respectively. Decided to buy the Classic Pooh pillow case for Baby S.

After she left, I went shopping alone. Yes, the impulsive shopper in me went crazy.... coz there were sales in Marina Square. Saw a top from Dorthy Perkins and was thinking about it coz it was white and it costed the same as the dresses that were featured here. Yup, dun think it's worth it....

Normally, I wouldnt go to both Zara and Mango coz it's pretty common here in Singapore. Somehow, I just went to Zara and Mango that day coz I needed to occupy my time before my next appointment. Got a tube top at SGD 11.90 and the polka-dot top at SGD 39 respectively. Went I was about to leave Mango, my eyes went wondering to the accessories corner and got myself a gold wing at SGD 15. According to the SA, both the polka-dot top and the accessory were last pieces. As for the polka-dot top, she mentioned that this type of design wouldnt be available in the next season. It's sexy and the strings worked like a bikini.

After I bought all these items, I couldnt recall how much I had spent on another SGD 50. I was in a panic attack and trying to recall what I bought. Soon, I realised that I bought something for slimming the night before.

Perhaps this picture will reveal why I went on a shopping frenzy.

PS : After meeting SRT, it also made me realised that there's a need to compromise to be made in order to maintain peace and harmony at home.

10.07.09 : Day of Highs and Lows

Woken by a call from SRT to go out for lunch. Obviously, I was late to meet up with her. However, we didnt make an arrangement of the actual venue to meet though we had agreed to meet at Paragon.

When I reached there, she's nowhere in sight. But met someone whom I rather forget ~ not absolutely keen to even acknowledge that person (long story). Ok, I still couldnt locate her. Tried to contact her again through her hp. It rang and went dead later.

Went through the whole building from level 1 to level 5. Still, there was no sight of her. Tried to contact her through her residential number a couple of times. However, it turned out to be the wrong number. Then tried to scroll down the numbers and finally managed to reach her residential number.

Later, she mentioned that she had lost her hp in a cab while she was on her way there. The only number she recalled was her hubby's. In the end, we met up for a brief moment to pass me her stuff. Well, at least we met and it's all that matters.

After this meeting, I was on a mission to search the PINK top to wear for an occasion. This color is not my color of choice and will try to avoid it as much as possible. The closest shade of pink that I would wear will be FUCHSIA if it's even consider the same color family (I dont take Arts as a subject in any form). My search started from Paragon to PS.

Of coz, I've sidetracked from my search. Went to Dorthy Perkins coz there's sale. Tried on a couple of dresses costed at SGD 39 each (original : SGD 79) and had narrowed down to 2 dresses. One was a white number and the other was printed with horses (had been eyeing it since its launch). Was excited to purchase both till I realised the printed dress had a large tear near the thighs. Hugely disappointed about it coz I'm positive about purchasing both dresses. Well, on a positive note was I had saved some moolah since there's 1 dress to purchase. The white dress I thought would be perfect for weddings. Hence, I made that purchase coz it looked simple yet delicate coz of the patterns and it fell nicely at knee length. Ok, it was the type of purchase of wants rather than needs. Here is the picture of my buy.

Yes, I needed to remind myself about my mission coz I foresee that I wouldnt have time over the weekends to do so. I tried on polo , crew neck tees but I dont like the effect and shops like Giordano, Hang Ten, Baleno, Cotton On have promotions of 'Buy 2 at SGD 30' or 'Buy 3 at SGD 10', etc. Wanna get something that I could wear in future as well as having some feminine element to it. I dont see myself wearing PINK polos at all. The final destination was NET where I was still trying on the polo tees. When I was about to give up, I saw this butterfly top in the dreaded color. It costed about SGD 21 which was already discounted from SGD 70. When I tried it, the look was slightly off-shouldered which something that I liked. Yup, it was the only piece left after checked. Hence, needed to grab it coz I'm tired of walking around the whole building looking for a PINK top. The next thing on my list is I need to curb my spending!

Feeling lazy ~ sling bags is the best

Had been sick and battling with both flu as well as cough. Hence, not exactly in the right frame of mind to blog for the past few days.

Recently, have trying to maximise the usage by 'thinking out of the box' coz I'm running out of monetary resources. Found 2 sling bags to use.

The first bag (B) was a hand-me-down from my auntie and the other was from a defunct brand 'Fomulas'. Had queued early in the morning to exchange one of my old bags for this. Loved the sizes of both bags as well as the adjustable stripes. Can totally matched almost anything and it's hands-free.

Perhaps, there are some items that you havent been using and it's time that some of these items get to see the sunlight again.

One of my fav pairing coz it's simple.

Nocturnal

These few days have turned to a nocturnal creature and it seems that I do work better at night. However, it's bad for my skin and body. Nevertheless, I shall present my concept of black against black. To me, I like to use the same color but different texture to mix and match. Yup, in black.

I do like to look at guy's clothings to seek inspiration and think that vests can change an outfit to a more masculine approach. I like vests coz it gives waists to a woman.

The items feature here in black, of course and are presented in anticlockwise :-
Satin Top (pushcart in IMM), Capri pants (shop in Lucky Plaza), Shorts (Topshop) and Vest (Dorthy Perkins)

BTW, these items were relatively inexpensive ranging from SGD 10 - SGD 35 approximately. Usually, I will pair this combination with a pair of pointed shoes so that I look taller and will my doctor's bag. For accessories, I will wear a pair of earrings a more polished look.

Here is my way of interpretation and prefer to wear shorts with this combination and hope you like it. (Pardon my poor photography skills & untidy presentation)

As for me, I enjoy experimenting my looks to give a different feel. Try it!

Hey Goodlooking

Let me extract something from Urban (newspaper supplement from Straits Times) under the column of Hey Goodlooking.

Q : What are you wearing?
A : My shirt, tie and belt are from Topman and cost about SGD 80 in all. My G-star jeans and Seiko watch cost SGD 400 each. My Salvatore Ferragamo shoes cost SGD 500.
After seeing this, I was back in my pissed mode coz this person lost my pressie (Porter - not Porter International) for SL. Damn pissed coz if you have so much moolah, cant you find back the same bag? Anyway, I need to calm my nerves coz poor SL is trapped in between. Poor fellow.

On the brighter note, my gf came to town and we went shopping together. Her only complaint was why am I wearing shorts. My reply to her would always be SG is so humid and I like to dress down.

Below is a preview of my summer staples. There are either paired with Birkens or Melissa flats. Not keen to torture my feet during the weekends. Secretly pray that I could wear like this and go to work. :)
For outfit 1, I'll carry my Burberry tote and wear a bangle. On Thursday, I chose a wrong bangle and was suffering with rashes. My arms had those tiny red bumps and I kept scratching. Argh!
For outfit 2, it was SL's idea to wear something different. It usually mean do not wear your denim shorts. Yes, I love my shorts so much that my weekend outfits will revolve around the shorts. Kinda scary. Had carried my Burberry sling bag along (given by my aunt) so that it could prevent the ugly shopping monster from appearing. It was small enough to carry my wallet, key pouch, mobile, etc.
Was sad coz I had accidentally stepped on my earphones. Hence, the earrings couldnt work as well as before. All thanks to my elephant weight. Dont have any intention to buy new ones.
The humidity level in my country is getting worse (so near to the equator) recently. Do drink lotsa water to keep hydrated as well as slap on some face masks to keep the face moisturised.
Hallo Summer! Bye Spring!
