Life's simplest pleasures

Life's simplest pleasures can be anything.

SL and I had a really late dinner at Wisma's foodcourt on Friday evening after a 'long' search for another top to replace the white top coz he thought that it was too auntie looking. (For the white top, had taken off all the embellishments shortly after I reached home that very night after SL's comments. He often joked about my auntie fashion sense.) Of course, the search was unsuccessful though saw a tonga dress at Dorthy Perkins. Looked pretty but I have large arms and prefer to cover them rather than exposing them. Dinner was relatively inexpensive but was a nice one though coz we had a good chat.

My outfit was a bit blanc and noir in between. (White top sans the embellishments : Lucky Plaza/Black jeans : Queensway Shopping Centre/ Bag : Gucci/ Pair with black shoes).

Saturday's evening was spent at Ice Cold coz SL invited me for a date. Beer and chicken wings are the best combination in a pub. Met a couple of galfriends who happened to be at the same place. So glad to meet them. However, I didnt wanna stay there for too long and wanna dinner/ supper coz I've not taken my lunch and dinner. The ensemble was simply noir and the adidas bag was bought in one of shops in Toa Payoh. Relatively cheap and love it coz it's furry. I also wanna to match the 'sporty' theme that we had for that day.
Here was my outfit (Black Top: Hynopsis/Black jeans : Queensway Shopping Centre/ Bag : Adidas - Respect Me/ Pair with black shoes/ Rings : H&M; Perlini's Silver). Accessories for both days were kept to the minimal (less is more mantra) by wearing a different ring for both days. Make-up was done with my latest fake eyelashes obssession.

Ended up at the nearby McDonald's. Was pleasantly surprised that the Happy Meal toy given was Hello Kitty. McDonalds has collaborated with Hello Kitty for their 35th Anniversary and there will be different toys given over these 4 weeks when purchased a Happy Meal. All toys have a stated year and there are 36 toys to choose from. Hence, each one is unique with the year stated in the packaging. This could mean that I will be broke and grow fat if I purchase all the toys given in 4 weeks. These toys are too cute to resist and here is the picture for you to judge.

Had a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Cheers!

Vintage purse....

One of my biggest regret was to buy the nameless vintage purse in Zouk's fleamarket. Liked the buckle but not the overall package. Whenever I looked at it, I wondered what had tempted me to buy. Perhaps, my lack of exposure to fleamarket.

The Gucci purse was a better buy, courtesy by SL who was studying in Australia. Was discussing with him about bidding it in ebay. However, I did have a cap amount that I would want him to bid. In the end, I've it for AUD 100 and it was a far cry as compared to the prices that are stated in ebay now.

Honestly, I hadnt sent it to authenticate for the fear of disappointment but I did some research on the net. It appeared to genuine. Yes, I'm keen to know but it was a gift after all. Have decided not to check. The only flaw about this bag was there were pen marks in the interior of the clutch (not gonna show the inside coz there are many fakes floating around). Thank goodness.

Of course, I'll still go to fleamarkets coz I enjoy a good deal as well as exercising self-refrain and temptations. Still trying very hard to control and there were a couple of scores recently such as a brand new Commes des Garcons, Adidas Shoes and a cheap DKNY pouch.

Here is the picture of my vintage purses.

Revenge of The Titans - Flea Market

It was a lazy Sunday and I really wanted to go to this flea market to take a look at their wares that were on sale. This flea market was at Trinity (7 Mt Sophia) from 27 & 28 Jun 09 from 1400 - 2000 hrs.
The long flights of stairs to get me up to Mt Sophia was killing me. I was breathless after climbing many flights of it and could feel that my legs were becoming more of jelly. When I reach the summit, I was panting and trying to catch my breath. Yes, I should be certified as unfit.

The weather was really humid in the afternoon and the bigger room was lack of air-con. Perhaps, there were too many people in the same location. I was perspiring very profusely.

Here are some of the pictures in both advertisement and the location.

For the wares, I didnt see much coz those were mainly used clothings and shoes. There were accessories and these could be found in stores in FEP. These items were not cheap. In the end, I had bought a pair of adidas shoes at a very good rate from a pair of nice ladies. Whether it's geniune or fake, the price itself was too irresistible an offer to let it go. BTW, this pair of shoes was purchased in the air-con area and kinda refused to leave that area.

According to SL, it's a place where you could see beautiful people especially girls. It's like a place of be seen and to be seen. Some were seen with killer heels and thick make-up on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon. Some of them were dressed in their Sunday best. It's a good place to people watch.
Perhaps, the organisers should look at certain things such as placing some notices of the bus schedule would help coz I believed many goers were climbing the long flight of stairs. Even when we reach Mt Sophia, we couldnt locate the place till we asked around. Notices of the flea market should be placed so that people will know where is the exact location.
Overall, I went away with only 1 buy. Maybe, the weather was the culprit coz it was extremely humid and hot yesterday. It kinda made me and SL rather very tired to scout around for more buys.
PS : Does anybody knows the model of this pair of Adidas shoes?

Collaborations I heart

Sports brands collaborate with fashion power houses are nothing new. In fact, it is good for competition and there's freshness in ideas. It is a pretty good marriage and there are plenty of advantages. Expanding of fan base and these are coveted items are major advantages from these marriages.

You have Adidas with Yohji Yamamoto (Y3) as well as with Stella McCartney. These are selling like hotcakes. Then there is Puma jumping into this bandwagon.

Not sure if consumers notice this. Both Puma and Adidas have similar style. In fact, the founders of these brands are real-life brothers (my gf tried to test my knowledge on this when a SG mag stated this fact ~ yawn!).

There was a wave of Puma in collaboration with designers such as Alexander McQueen, Neil Barrett, Miharayasuhiro and of course this belongs to the high-end Puma. At that time, these coveted items were available at Venue (now defunct ~ if this is incorrect, pls let me know). Puma also collaborated with Christy Turlington to create Nuala. I've a top and a clutch from Nuala.

What got me started the whole collection was a 96 hours bag and this could be a sling or hand carry type of bag. Kinda cute as I could link it with other bags. Being bag whore, I've another 2 more bags from this designer.

The next item will be interesting as these are shoes from both Alexandra McQueen and Miharayasuhiro. For Miharayasuhiro, I've got a tiny bag with interesting details too. As for the shoes, you can check out the website as they are carrying the same design but in different colors. I do like the type of materials used for the sneakers especially the ones from McQueen.

The above mentioned items were bought in 08 when I wasnt down and out. Hence, these may not recent items. Still, I totally heart my buys.

My mantra of dressing is being minimalistic and the logos dont have to scream for attention. Fans who understand and follow these brands will be able to recognise these items. Hence, most of the logos of my stuff are rather small. I really hated logos that are at your face.

Here are pictures of my prized sneakers (sans the bags and top).
