Preferential Treatment

Had dinner with CT at Fig & Olive in JP on last Saturday at 1930 hrs. It was an unpleasant experience. Perhaps, the manpower that they hired on that day was not experienced to handle the dinner crowd. When we requested the servers to check on our order, they seemed to be preoccupied with other things. It seemed to take forever to get our requests done. Tsk...tsk... the fries came after our meals were finished and even waited for a tiny plate of sauces.

Another incident happened on a Sunday afternoon was attracted to Alexander McQueen scarf displayed in Pedder Red. Perhaps it's my casual attire to be blamed. Dont think the attire justify the attitude that were showered by these SAs. When I was approaching one of the two SAs who were busying chatting among themselves to ask about the price of my beloved Alexander McQueen scarf. She gave me the 'dun think you can afford this' type of reply. IMHO, the attitude of the sales personnel in those 'branded' shops should change. After all, you are just a SA working in a branded shop. Dun see a point why these SAs need to show 'attitude'. Period. Felt like these people's views were only seeing people at dog's level (roughly translated in Chinese).

Perhaps, I should stick back to my regular fastfood and normal shops that I'm familiar with. At least, I do know what to expect. I think SG should start to 'buck up' and improve their services coz the other countries will catch up SG eventually. Maybe, this is also the reason why SG has slipped her position in recent years.

Skull Heads

The Alexander McQueen skull head scarves regardless of color, I would like to own. However, I simply couldnt afford it. In the end, I've got a couple of cheaper alternatives with different colors to play with.

I do love skull heads and bought a couple of such scarves to make my outfits interesting. It's tough to wear it to work coz it's inappropriate. In the end, I would try to pair it with casual clothings instead. I understand that a local star in Mediacorp had popularized this and dont really care coz her style isnt in my cup of tea. I prefer the way the McQueen scarf that was wore by half of the Heatherette. It's definitely edgier and different.

Here is my collection of scarves. Hope you like it!

Black color scarf : Cant remember

Collaborations I heart

Sports brands collaborate with fashion power houses are nothing new. In fact, it is good for competition and there's freshness in ideas. It is a pretty good marriage and there are plenty of advantages. Expanding of fan base and these are coveted items are major advantages from these marriages.

You have Adidas with Yohji Yamamoto (Y3) as well as with Stella McCartney. These are selling like hotcakes. Then there is Puma jumping into this bandwagon.

Not sure if consumers notice this. Both Puma and Adidas have similar style. In fact, the founders of these brands are real-life brothers (my gf tried to test my knowledge on this when a SG mag stated this fact ~ yawn!).

There was a wave of Puma in collaboration with designers such as Alexander McQueen, Neil Barrett, Miharayasuhiro and of course this belongs to the high-end Puma. At that time, these coveted items were available at Venue (now defunct ~ if this is incorrect, pls let me know). Puma also collaborated with Christy Turlington to create Nuala. I've a top and a clutch from Nuala.

What got me started the whole collection was a 96 hours bag and this could be a sling or hand carry type of bag. Kinda cute as I could link it with other bags. Being bag whore, I've another 2 more bags from this designer.

The next item will be interesting as these are shoes from both Alexandra McQueen and Miharayasuhiro. For Miharayasuhiro, I've got a tiny bag with interesting details too. As for the shoes, you can check out the website as they are carrying the same design but in different colors. I do like the type of materials used for the sneakers especially the ones from McQueen.

The above mentioned items were bought in 08 when I wasnt down and out. Hence, these may not recent items. Still, I totally heart my buys.

My mantra of dressing is being minimalistic and the logos dont have to scream for attention. Fans who understand and follow these brands will be able to recognise these items. Hence, most of the logos of my stuff are rather small. I really hated logos that are at your face.

Here are pictures of my prized sneakers (sans the bags and top).
