More Toys...

I'm not too much of a girly girl but I do like toys. Recently, I have just developed a liking of Bearbricks. Yes, I've been spending money for my wants and not necessities.

Met up with SL at Daiso to exchange some of the stuff such as a file and rollers that I had bought on Sunday. After the exchange, we proceed for a quick dinner coz it's the start of the week and SL was required to run an errand.

Before we left, SL bought 3 Bearbricks of Series 18 from Action City and it costed approx SGD 25. Is aint cheap. Here is the picture of the Bearbricks from the famous characters such as SpongeBob Squarepants, Terminator and Hello Kitty.

Meeting up and spending more moolah

SL was out to watch Liverpool with his colleagues and I had made my arrangement to meet up with one of my gf, T for a short while coz she needed to go back home to attend some stuff.

Managed to check out a pair of shoes that I was eyeing in Rubi. However, the price was SGD 50. Didnt buy but would consider. Didnt manage to walk the newest shopping centre in Orchard (Ion) much coz it's too crowded on a Sunday. Argh! Will visit in another day.

Went to Lucky Plaza to visit my fav shops instead and ended buying a nice white top. I like the details on the sleeves that gives a princess feel. The top comes in 3 colors such as white, grey and beige. I thought white was nice though it's tough to maintain. Saw a couple more tops (another translucent black floral top and a leopard printed one) but decided not to buy them.

Here is the picture of my princess top from Speed Fashion.

Before she left, we went over to Taka to meet somebody and checked out some swimwear. Decided not to buy again. After she left, I decided to walk from Wisma Atria to Plaza Singapura.
When I reached PS, went straight to Dorthy Perkins. Saw a brocade dress that was marked down drastically and was obviously tempted by the price reduction. If I would buy this dress, it will be a liability to me coz it would require dry cleaning.
My heart was saying yes and brain was saying no. In the end, had decided to go to Daiso before buying that dress. I've been trying to find this dress for my size and waiting patiently for the reduction. I thought it would be expensive for me to keep coz of the dry cleaning bills.
SL couldnt believe that I would spend SGD 24 in Daiso and this was the first time that I really went overboard spending in this SGD 2 shop.

Here is my loot consisted of mesh box for my clothings, mascara guards, false eyelashes (2 pairs in a box and to add to my collection), etc. For the mascara guards and false eyelashes were the remaining stocks left at the point of my purchase.

Falsies

My recent obsession is falsie eyelashes and nude lips look. Oh right, falsies were so yesterday news for some. As for me, my eyelashes are those that curl but am thinking of experimenting different look to keep my homeboy interested. That's serious hard work for women.

I like to experiment colors or looks esp on my eyes and am looking for nude colors for my lips apart from gloss. It started with buying those from Daiso and defunct Missha (I think) and over cut those. But didnt have the courage to apply the falsies coz I was afraid that I would my original eyelashes would be pulled off if I remove my falsies. Sounds funny but that was my feeling.

My gf encouraged me to look into tutorials on the net. Guess wat? I still think that the best way is to experiment by yourself coz you know your body parts well. Practise, practise, practise and it will definitely turn out perfect one fine day. I wouldnt say that I'm expert but I'm loving the looks that are created by these cuties. Had tried Daiso eyelash glue (bought in Taipei) and wouldnt recommend it coz it gives off an unpleasant smell.

As for the nude lippie, I used those that I've gotten as freebies. Loved the look especially my fav is smoky eyes.

Most of them were bought from Daiso, 1 pair from Missha, 3 pairs from some shop in Far East Plaza and the other was from Sasa. Didnt get those lashes that cost SGD 6.90 sold in shops in both Far East Plaza and Bugis Village coz the lash bones dun look stable to handle the glue. Most of these falsies are manufactured in China. My personal preferences are those with criss cross type of lashes as well dramatic lashes for drama rama effects.

The prices are as follow :-
- Daiso : SGD 2 per pair
- Missha : cant remember
- Far East Plaza / Bugis : SGD 1.90/ 2 per pair; Buy 3 cost SGD 5 type of promotions
- Sasa : SGD 4.95 for 6 pairs (I tink)

Here is my collection of falsies.

Fleamarket and Date with Potter

Was trying to use Daiso's eyelash glue and this is not available in SG but was in Taiwan. The glue was ok but the negative part about the product were the strong smell of ammonia and not sticky enough. Had a hard time to put on a pair of dramatic falsies and could have injected my right eye.
By the time I left my home, I was late for my date with SL.

My initial intention on Saturday was to go to a fleamarket in SMU on saturday and picked my rings before catching the half-blood prince.

Before I went to the fleamarket, had made a trip to Daiso for the items such as a blusher brusher and a hand moisturiser that I had reserved. I brought my belt to exchange for something else. Had left Daiso with the following : 3 bottles of Detergent for puff and sponge, 2 bottles of Horse Fat Hand Cream, 1 bottle of Collagen Hand Cream and a brusher. The hand creams that were shown in the pictures were placed under reservation and were OOS when I reached the place. Checked with the SAs, they mentioned that these products were relatively well-received. As for the detergent, I found it from the online forum and these were good stuff as well. For Daiso or any other products, I would like to buy in pairs to stock up or I do feel a slight hint of insecurity coz popular products are always OOS.

Yes, I love going to fleamarkets. Well, one man's trash is the other man's treasure. We arrived at the fleamarket in SMU. My thoughts were not intending to spend much in the fleamarket. The first that I had scored was a small DKNY pouch for less than SGD 5. Well, SL soon discovered that his fren had a store there that sold VS products. He bought a carrier as well as a lippy. I thought we had enough of looking through the various stores and decided to head to Raffles City to get my rings and had simple dinner. Saw a couple of mags giveaways and grabbed them as well. Most of these items are gifts from SL.

Before catching the show, we went to hansel shop to take a look at the stuff to try my luck. Obviously, she catered for the petite only and went through to catch th half-blood.

Here are my possessions and the SMU fleamarket.

PS : There were lawsuits against VS for 'borrowing' ideas from various brands.

Nail colors and just colors

I used not to have long nails and always cut my nails super short. Always envious of those girls who have long nails. I discovered that my cure was to apply nail colors on my nails to prevent myself from damaging my nails.

Below is the nail color that I have used for SG's wedding and this was also my gf's handiwork. All she used was electric blue tip and the rest was using clear nail color as well as glitters. Really loved her work. Please pardon my ugly fingers.

This is now my current nail color. It has a black based but have applied a lighter black color with glitters. Hence, it will appear either gunmetal or purple under certain lighting. BTW, these were bought in Daiso and are relatively cheap. Constantly, I will source for bottles whose seal remained and are not torn. Most of the time, the bottles seals are already torn and consumers will use it on their fingers.

I decided to take a plunge of resisting the buying of black colored items and tried to inject colors in my wardrobe. Had bought this blouse featured below from a shop in Heeren recently and it's not exactly cheap. The brand is called M (renowned brand known for quirkiness). Loved this top totally coz of its shape as well as geometric patterns. Often, I refer this top as a buffet top as it allows movement. But my mum and SL think otherwise and find it unflattering. Well, still loving this top despite of their opinions.
Wish me luck in my conquest to break off with blackie and embrace exciting colors in my bursting wardrobe!

Skull Heads

The Alexander McQueen skull head scarves regardless of color, I would like to own. However, I simply couldnt afford it. In the end, I've got a couple of cheaper alternatives with different colors to play with.

I do love skull heads and bought a couple of such scarves to make my outfits interesting. It's tough to wear it to work coz it's inappropriate. In the end, I would try to pair it with casual clothings instead. I understand that a local star in Mediacorp had popularized this and dont really care coz her style isnt in my cup of tea. I prefer the way the McQueen scarf that was wore by half of the Heatherette. It's definitely edgier and different.

Here is my collection of scarves. Hope you like it!

White color scarf : a shop in Bugis
Black color scarf : Cant remember
Brown color scarf : a shop in Heeren
Cute scarf : Daiso

160609 - SG's wedding

SG's wedding is the one that I was really anticipating coz I bought a cheongsam for that occasion. However, it was a color themed wedding for the bridesmaids. Sigh! The white dominate the day while black is the color in the night.

Honestly, I really hated white coz it's a color that doesnt flatter plus sized like me. The hunt for the perfect white dress was a nightmare for me. Went to Far East, there were some that were normal-looking ones but ridiculously priced. Not worth to put my moolah on them.

The black cheongsam was bought from ILT 96 in Jurong Point. Relatively cheap as compared to Tong Tong. Was in Shaw Tower to re-sole my shoes bought from Charles and Keith.

Decided to drop by Tong Tong to check for stuff and saw a silk jacket going for SGD 299. Not cheap but I was looking for the design as it's a black and white combo. I was very interested and decided to ask for a discount as I knew the boss. Patronised the shop before all the publicity as my office was in the same building. The interesting part was the manager of the shop made a very long call to check with her boss as I told her that I knew the owner. Her reply was she was not in town. I found it rather fishy and she kept questioning me about how much I knew about the shop. Come on, give me a break and I didnt buy the jacket. Perhaps, it's her attitude and I'm broke already.

The hunt of the perfect white dress continued as the bride insisted on white was the rule of the day. Finally, found that dress in a shop in Lucky Plaza that sells cheap fashion. I'm extremely happy coz I dun see a point to blow my budget on a dress that I will be wearing occasionally.

For the shoes, I was racking my brains and found this pair in my shoe cabinet. Obviously, it was left in a corner and forgotten about it. It's simple to match and I re-soled it for a longer usage.

My theme was retro and the red brooch was a double happiness. It's perfect for the cheongsam. Simply love my cheongsam as it has a modern twist to it. Of course, I bought a couple of bodysuits so that this could hold up my body. It would help me to look slimmer.

Honestly, it was a honor and yet tiring to be a bridesmaid as there are so many details to look into so that the bride wouldnt be too stressed. Was on my toes most of the day and completely drained at the end of the day.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice of clothings and will leave you guys to decide.

PS : The champagne sash was the bond among all the bridesmaid and everybody tied a knot except me coz I would look pregnant if I followed them. The white flower cosage was bought from Daiso. Of course, I placed the sash sideways and slanted so that I could look slimmer.

White Dress : Lucky Plaza
White Cosage : Daiso
Shoes of the day : Charles & Keith (past season)
Black Cheongsam: ILT 96
Double Happiness Brooch : Tong Tong (formerly Tan Tan)

What can you get for SGD 2 in this economic crisis?

Whether it is SGD 2, TWD 39 or JPY 100, there is a shop that everybody knows. It's none other than Daiso. There are 4 stores in SG and the largest is at IMM. There is a variety of items you can choose from such as shower gels, earrings, containers, household items, etc.

If I pop into one of these shops, I know that I can shop like a Queen coz everything costs SGD 2 flat and willnt leave till I emerge with my buys. My frens can reckon that. It seems like there are things to buy from these shops. Perhaps, I like the idea of having quantities rather than quality. There are instances when stocks of certain items are run out especially for the 'hot' items. Hence, I always stock up. Recently, I have to be more restrained of my purchases coz of my limited resources. Yup, I'm crazy and should be sent to attend Shopaholic Anonymous.

I also know that there are some retail stores that purchase from Daiso and 'pimp' these items with crystals. BTW, the retail prices is at least 7 times of the original price. Crazy, when the original price of these items is SGD 2. Well, you do the maths.

According to a Taiwanese variety show, a blogger mentions that this item listed below is a good mask for the nose and it costs SGD 2 only. Hence, I bought this today to try. Will let you guys know about its effectiveness. I'm looking forward to a 'cleaner' nose.

Will blog about my adventure in the museum later. Ta!

My Not Exactly Cheap Sunday

Wanted to dress up for this outing. However, the weather was cruel. It was hot and humid to even take the public transportation. There was no difference when I was in the train. It was just as hot. Fortunately, I managed to seek comforts of the air-con in the National Museum to view the exhibits from the museum featuring The Christian Lacroix - the Costumier exhibition. Well, the entrance fee is SGD 8 and I didnt pay a single cent coz I had waved my student pass. Hooray for saving moolah!

Arriving the exhibits rather early coz we wanted to join the guided tour at 1630 hrs. Suddenly there was a huge crowd emerging from nowhere and followed the guide. Argh! Really hated to go to the museum during the weekends as it was simply covered with families and kids running around screaming. The noise was so bad that we simply couldnt hear what the guide's voice. Some of the visitors were busy talking among themselves. It was kinda distracting. After the tour, we decided to take a round by ourselves.

The exhibit closed at 1800 hrs and we decided to head to Tao's restaurant (one of our favourite haunt). SL and I decided to have a nice treat monthly and this was one of them. Then I decided to go shop around at my favourite shops located in PS. Bought a nose pack from Daiso and a twit jacket.

To my horror, one of the buttons is gone and cursing at myself for not checking the jacket thoroughly. Argh! That's not exact a great ending of my Sunday! Just wanna call the store asap. Cant wait for the sun to rise!
