11.07.09 :Night Fleamarket & Visits to Museums

SL was at his niece's birthday party till was interrupted by my call to go out. My intention was to go to flea market. When we reached City Hall, it's pouring. So I went to Dorthy Perkins and saw a pair of oxfords. Tempted to buy but needed to control the urge to do so. Yup, left Dorthy Perkins not buying it.
Still insisted of going to the flea market located at Singapore Art Museum courtyard despite of the rain. When we reached there, it was crowded and the stalls have occupied the walkway. Went through the stalls and most of them sold their 'pre-loved' stuff and not keen to buy those.

Saw a stall that sold some nice hairbands but decided not to buy and move to look for other stuffs. It was a bit pricey and the cost was SGD 30 (approx.) for the one that I saw. Found a tote bag on sale and it's from Commes Des Garcons Guerrilla Store. Totally loving it coz it's colorful, cute and slightly feminine coz of the bows. The best parts were the price was attractive and it's brand new. Of course, I would like to own a bag from Commes Des Garcons coz hadnt gone to any of their Guerrilla Stores. There were no handles for the carrier and decided to tie some knots for handles. Here is my prized possession, courtesy from SL.

After buying this, I decided to pop into the Singapore Art Museum to look around since it's free admission till 2am. Hooray! Saw an interesting sculpture and liked the quotation from Lord Byron, the English Romantic poet expressed what a pet owner could possibly see in their animals on his beloved pet tombstone : "Beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity, and all the virtues of man without his vices." Thought this was very insightful. Here are the pictures of the sculpture and the art piece is called 'Andy's Venice Souvenir'.

After visiting for awhile, we decided to visit Peranakan Museum. At this time, it was still raining. My focus on going to this museum was to look at the jewellery worn by Peranakans. Photography was not allowed but still managed to take a couple of snapshots. Here are the pictures of the intricate designed pieces and do love the bridal headgear.

Revenge of The Titans - Flea Market

It was a lazy Sunday and I really wanted to go to this flea market to take a look at their wares that were on sale. This flea market was at Trinity (7 Mt Sophia) from 27 & 28 Jun 09 from 1400 - 2000 hrs.
The long flights of stairs to get me up to Mt Sophia was killing me. I was breathless after climbing many flights of it and could feel that my legs were becoming more of jelly. When I reach the summit, I was panting and trying to catch my breath. Yes, I should be certified as unfit.

The weather was really humid in the afternoon and the bigger room was lack of air-con. Perhaps, there were too many people in the same location. I was perspiring very profusely.

Here are some of the pictures in both advertisement and the location.

For the wares, I didnt see much coz those were mainly used clothings and shoes. There were accessories and these could be found in stores in FEP. These items were not cheap. In the end, I had bought a pair of adidas shoes at a very good rate from a pair of nice ladies. Whether it's geniune or fake, the price itself was too irresistible an offer to let it go. BTW, this pair of shoes was purchased in the air-con area and kinda refused to leave that area.

According to SL, it's a place where you could see beautiful people especially girls. It's like a place of be seen and to be seen. Some were seen with killer heels and thick make-up on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon. Some of them were dressed in their Sunday best. It's a good place to people watch.
Perhaps, the organisers should look at certain things such as placing some notices of the bus schedule would help coz I believed many goers were climbing the long flight of stairs. Even when we reach Mt Sophia, we couldnt locate the place till we asked around. Notices of the flea market should be placed so that people will know where is the exact location.
Overall, I went away with only 1 buy. Maybe, the weather was the culprit coz it was extremely humid and hot yesterday. It kinda made me and SL rather very tired to scout around for more buys.
PS : Does anybody knows the model of this pair of Adidas shoes?
