YSL no more

Gone with the days of luxe cosmetics. YSL is the latest casualty and this piece of news is printed on ST dated October 9. Kinda sad to see brands like Stila and YSL are moving out of Singapore. Anybody still remember when Stila first reached our shores and there was a product that commemorated the event with a picture of a Stila lady with Singapore's scenary.

The economy is not doing well and it seems like these brands are moving back to their countries to consolidate. Come Oct 26, YSL cosmetics will not be in Singapore. As for Stila, they had moved on a bigger counter to a smaller counter and disappeared entirely. Kinda sad coz had bought one of their limited edition festive makeup palettes as well as Touche Eclat. Cant remember which was the first item but these items have great significance to me. These were rewards that I had bought for myself when I was with my ex-company.

I guessed these luxe brands are facing the woes of the economy and there are some relatively cheaper brands entering the market to grab their share of the market especially the Korean brands. The quality of these brands are comparable to those of the Western . Perhaps, their products may suit Asian skins better in terms of color selection. The other reason could be due to the price tag attached to the luxe cosmetics which may not be affordable to the general public.

Meanwhile, there is still time to grab yours before the departure. I'm now sticking to cheaper alternatives till I get my fix at the duty free section at the airport.
