Ed Pinaud X L'Officiel promos

These promotions happened during March 2010 and September 2009.

Ed Pinaud cosmetics were given for each purchase of L'Officiel (Singapore) magazine and this was not the first time.

Last year's gift with purchase was eyeshadow single. There were 5 colors to choose from such as Emerald Green, Frosted White, Glided Black, Midnight Blue and Rose Brown. These were popular among the ladies as the magazine retailed at SGD 5.90. Hence, many ladies grabbed more than a couple and the colors were labelled on the packaging.
This year, there was another alternative to purchase the magazine was online. Of course, it will cost SGD 1 more than those that were retailing at the stores. The advantages were one would have the choice of choosing the various color palettes and these magazines would be delivered directly to you.

For those who had purchased from the stores, the packages were hard to distinguish as these were sealed and the colours were not indicate.
Here are the colors that I have :
  • N0. 1 Hazelnut Chocolate
  • No. 2 Smoky Emerald
  • No. 3 Chocolate Plum
  • No. 4 Mocca Latte
  • No. 5 Blue Black
  • No. 6 Violet Concerto

Hope ladies out there will enjoy these as much as I do!

1 year later

1 year ago, I was into Gifts with Purchases (GWPs) especially those offered by the Japanese magazines and bought almost everything. Of course, I was flamed by some local bloggers.

1 year later, the buying had stopped as the total cost of these magazines can 'eat up' a certain amount of my budget. This is a money spending business and the gifts are never ending. It seems like yesterday.

I do purchase some of these magazines but it is not as aggressive as before. The main reason is the cash (that was used for purchasing magazines) has another purpose and it is used to finance my dancing lessons.

Now, the bloggers are facing more aggressive consumers who demand more information as compared to me. There are comments such as do not call the staff to ask them about materials, release dates of the magazines etc in the forums.

There are other comments that there are more people who view these gifts as premiums and sell these at profit to sustain their other needs. Well, this will continue as it is based on the demand and supply of these gifts of purchases. There are some hot names to look for such as Agnes B, Marc Jacob, etc.

For those who are just starting to get into such Gifts with Purchases, it will be thrilling at first. Slowly, you may realise that these are not assets. Rather, there are liabilities as these items will be stored in a dark corner and you may not realise that you have started a sizable collection of things that you dont need.

Yes, this is my personal experience that I would like to share.

Leggings

Recently, I saw an TV segment featuring Taiwanese Men Wear Leggings. Had done this article before and it drew mixed reviews. Honestly, I dont mind (yes, you read it correctly) a guy wear it but not colorful ones. Not at all as a matter of fact as fashion draws inspirations from everywhere.

For me, I had bought a couple of leggings from Uniqlo as the leggings were on sale (I think the sale is still ongoing). These were going less than SGD 10 each and I couldnt resist not to buy at this price.
Yup, I bought the boring solid black color instead coz of my thunder thighs. I did bought a couple in a variety of lengths. These were cropped leggings. One ended near the knees and the other ended at half of my calves. Didnt get the one that ended at the ankles coz I thought I might looked shorter.
Well, I may be wrong.
Hmmm, it's great for dancing and this was the comment made when I was wearing one. My initial idea of wearing tights was finding a way to prevent exposure when I had bought a little too short for comfort denim skirt.
Now, it become a staple wardrobe for dancing and these are the cheaper alternatives to 'replace' the older one that I bought in Topshop. Some places are retailing more than SGD 9.90 for a pair and both pairs cost me less than SGD 20.

The best combination that was suitable for me was a simple top, denim skirt and ballet flats / simple heels.

Will update the pictures later...feeling frustrated that there's some technical problems when I was trying to add a toolbar to my blog.

Birthday wishes and greetings

My birthday had passed and had received well wishes from frens and family members.

This year's birthday was a simple affair due to the change in my current work situation and decided to take leave to celebrate.

This pressie was from S and he continued the tradition of buying gifts from Agnes B. The cardholder will join this collection. However, I had not use it.

S commented that I didnt use the leather tote that he had bought for my birthday last year. I told him I didnt feel that my current status is suitable for it. No, I'm not ashamed of the gift just that I didnt feel right.

Dont wanna make judgement on people. Sometimes, I do think that certain brands are more suitable for certain age groups. Yes, there are some successful young working people carry the traditional brands.

Well, I simply cant put my finger on this.

An example is Chanel 2.55. There are some young ladies who carry Chanel 2.55 bags. Some people would think that this is a fake coz of their age though what they carry is genuine. However, it will be different if these bags are carried by mature ladies.

Guess there are many fakes are flouting the market and there are some well-to-do kids who can afford such luxurious products. Many times, we find it strange for young kids to carry brands that some working class scrimp and save for several months just to get the desired IT bag.

The other factor is the environment such as media is pushing such lifestyle and many people are embracing this type of lifestyle. Unfortunately, money is limited and they usually maxi-out their credit card to upkeep this image. Dress to impress people that they meet them once and never again.

At the end, (IMHO) I do think that there are certain products for certain age groups. There is no hurry to get these products coz certain products will compliment and associate the age accordingly.

Below is the pressie from SL.

Yes we can and love to fly

Hey readers, I was preoccupied by work and dance for the past month and didnt have much time to update during this period.
Thanks for visiting for my blog despite of the long absence.
I will leave you with my new entry about my obsession.
My current obsession is rings. It seems like an addiction to buy more just to satisfy the thirst of having more stuff.
Some of these rings were bought during sale.
  • Serpent Ring from Diva

When I saw the Serpent ring, it was love at first sight and knew that it would be mine. But I thought it would be good if I could think about before the purchasing decision. The final decision made after visiting the same store for 3 days straight. I bet the SA thought that I was a mad woman. The previous collection that Diva had was a crocodile. It was a 2-finger ring. Didnt really like the color and shape.

  • 2-finger Bird Ring from F21
The 2-finger ring (unsure whether this is the correct term) was a winner from F21. Had not been purchasing anything from F21 for a very long while. It was one of those occasions when I was waiting for a fren to appear for our dinner date. Decided to go in and to check out their accessories. When I saw the price of this ring, the decision to purchase this was quick.
I decided to go back to the same F21 store two days later and found out that the beige version of this ring was sold out within 2 days. Now, F21 is another location for sourcing reasonably priced accessories.
  • Yes We Can ring from Aldo Accessories
Yes We Can does sounds like a motivational slogan to me. Saw these rings from a fellow blogger and I had the thought of getting it no matter what. Decided to source for it and could not find it in many Aldo stores. Finally, found it in Suntec's Aldo accessories store. Yah, I had struck gold! Aldo was having 2 for 1 promotions. Was busy checking out the accessories in the store just to make sure that I didnt miss a single item. Finally, I have decided to settle for 2 pairs of studs though the retail price of these were slightly lower as compared to the rings. Loved my rings coz I could wear these rings individually or together.
  • Structured ring from Citigems
This was an impulse buy as there was a sale in the store. Loved the simple lines of this ring and decided to buy this without looking for other items. There was a huge discount and thought this ring expressed my style for the moment.
Here are my current buys :

Frustrated

"Fashions fade. Style is eternal." ~ Yves Saint Laurent

That's so true.

Sometimes, I really hate myself for being plus sized while the vision of me in my mind isnt like that at all. I'm frustrated and longed to be size 8 - 10. I do hate how some people make certain comments.

One of the incidents was a foreigner and her daughter made certain comments when I was trying some clothes in Cotton On at 313 Somerset. They were Hong Kongers. "For bigger sized girls, they wear black to hide. You are slimmer, you should wear white." Though this remark was made outside the changing room, it seemed to be directed to me. Perhaps, it was not direct to me and I'm sensitive.

Call me sensitive. Do u think I enjoy being plus sized? There are so many clothes that I have to avoid. There are certain stores that carry plus sized clothings such as Topshop (I think up to size 16), Dorthy Perkins, New Look and some other local brands.

Sometimes, I wish I was back to size 8 - 10 at least I was slimmer then though I was ordinary looking.

Well, I'm trying to focus on my style and not so much of my size. It can be tough at times. I'm still trying to work on it and eat healthier.

Happy Belated Valentine's

Hey, Happy Belated Valentine's!

This special day was spent with my gf (J) yesterday instead with S. Decided to go to the Mac's for dinner and this balloon flower was done by a STAR from Macs. After my meal, we decided to walk around and encountered many interesting things and people. Went to a beauty counter and the advisor had provided many valuable beauty tips as well as many more. What an interesting day for dialogues!

Would like to wish everybody a Happy Belated Valentine's and Happy Lunar New Year!

PS : Can you tell this is a 3 petal flower?
